Fire Burning Near Osito Canyon UPDATED

The Osito Canyon Fire is now 70 percent contained and fire officials are hoping for full containment by 6 a.m. tomorrow.

One lane of the northbound I-5 near Templin Highway will remain closed for fire equipment.

After air reconnaissance, the fire’s spread was downsized to 288 acres, all of which are within Angeles National Forest boundaries.

As of the latest update:

There are 150 to 175 personnel on scene, along with equipment, according to U.S. Forest Service representative Dee Deckhert.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury Monday afternoon.

No structures were threatened or destroyed and no evacuations were conducted. Gas and oil lines were temporarily threatened and power lines in the area could pose a hazard for air ships.
