Local support helped firefighters
The joint command that successfully guided firefighters through the SCV Wildfires has issued a statement thanking Santa Clarita residents.
The statement, signed by Rocky Opliger of the US Forest Service, Glenn Massey of the LA County Fire Department and Rodger Thompson of Cal Fire, is as follows:
During the Buckweed and Magic Fire, community members and businesses expressed a tremendous amount of appreciation to the men and women that were involved in battling these wildfires. The Southern California Fire Siege directly affected the lives of many communities, yet these same communities made time to provide us with their personal support. The community’s overwhelming compassion, caring and personal thoughts were well received and appreciated.
We are blessed to have communities that are supportive to each other and to the efforts of our firefighters. Our hearts go out to all those who suffered losses and injuries. On behalf of all our firefighters involved in suppressing these wildfires, we would like to thank the residents in the City of Santa Clarita, and the surrounding unincorporated communities.
