Fire department expo good time to get information, make preparations.
With the Marek and Sesnon Fires still smoldering and the
anniversary of the Buckweed Fire coming up Wednesday, the Los Angeles County
Fire Department is offering a free wildland fire demonstration from11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Station 124 in Stevenson
Ranch.

The event, titled “Living In The Fire Zone” will feature
several valuable components. Participants will learn five important steps to
getting ready for wildfires and be able to talk with firefighters and
paramedics as well as see visit with vendors and see demonstrations of
emergency supplies, personal protective equipment and emergency response
systems.
Homeowners will also be able to get up-to-date information
on fire department operations, vegetation management and building standards.
There will be static displays from County
Forestry and Prevention, Animal
Care and Control, California Fire Safe Councils, Santa Clarita Sheriff,
California Highway Patrol, American Red Cross and the City of Santa
Clarita Emergency Communications and Fire Watch
Patrols.
Station 124 is located at 25870 Hemingway in Stevenson
Ranch. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
