A commercial fire gutted a storage facility in Castaic Tuesday afternoon, prompting authorities to shut down a portion of The Old Road.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded around 2 p.m. to reports of a fire at Castaic Self Storage located on The Old Road south of Royal Road and adjacent to Interstate 5.

When fire fighters arrived they found a small fire contained within one unit of the first floor of a two-story storage facility.

Authorities say there was minimal water and smoke damage to the storage unit.

“We had issues getting into the facility,” said Battalion Fire Chief Tony Ramirez. “They are very secure and locked up.”

The fire is still under investigation.
