First Electricity Alert Of The Season Issued

Agency asks public to be flexible with power usage

The California Independent System Operator (CAISO), charged with managing the electricity grid in California, has issued a Flex Alert for Thursday, July 5th, 2007 from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

[view:node_ad=5]Due to the current hot weather, the demand for electricity is approaching capacity.  As a result, state officials have called a Flex Alert.

So what's the best way to help during these energy shortages? Try the following:

  •   Turn off all unnecessary lights
  •   If you must use an air conditioner, turn it up to 78 degrees or higher
  •   Postpone using major appliances until after 7 PM
