Five Local Fires Believed To Be Arson

Fires set late Sunday night in Valencia

ImageThe Sheriff’s Department is reporting that five fires, set in the late hours of Sunday night are being investigated as arson.

The fires were all located in the area of Valencia around McBean Parkway and Arroyo Park Dr.

The first fire was located in a large trash can on Arroyo Park Dr. The second fire, reported 10 minutes later, was found in a planter at a nearby location on Arroyo Park Dr. In the case of the second fire, wood chips were found to have been burned. 

The third fire was reported at 1:10am Monday morning on a walking path in the Stone Creek Apartments on the corner of McBean parkway and Arroyo park drive.

A few minutes later, further up McBean near Del Monte, patrolling deputies spotted brush on fire, marking the fourth incident. 

[view:node_ad=5]The fifth fire was found shortly thereafter in another trash can behind Granary Square.   

The Santa Clarita Sheriff’s department is cautioning residents to be aware of this problem that they believe poses a very serious threat to the safety and well being of citizens. 

Anyone with information in regards to these incidents is urged to report it to the Arson Tip line at 323-881-7530.

Any suspicious activity should be reported, as always to the Sheriff’s Department at 255-1121.
