Local children get an opportunity to showcase their gridiron skills.
The City of Santa Clarita is inviting the community to participate in the National Football Leagues Punt, Pass and Kick Competition on Saturday, September 26 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
The competition will be held at Central Park and is open to all local youth ages 8-15.
The Punt, Pass and Kick competition will include boys and girls divisions broken down by age: 8/9, 10/11, 12/13 and 14/15.
No registration is required and each participant will be able to perform 1 punt, 1 pass and 1 kick.
Scores will be tallied based on distance and accuracy and winners will be notified following the competition.
The winner of each boy’s and girl’s age division at the Central Park’s Punt, Pass and Kick Competition will qualify to represent the City of Santa Clarita’s Youth Sports Program at the Sectional Competition in October.
“Established in 1961, the Punt, Pass and Kick Competition is one of the NFL’s longest-standing youth football traditions,” said Mayor Frank Ferry. “The competition at Central Park provides Santa Clarita’s local youth with the opportunity to showcase their skills in a local competition and the chance to advance on to the National Finals at an NFL Playoff game.”
The winners of the Sectional Competition, held in October at Jesse Owens County Park in Los Angeles, will qualify to move on to the Team Championships at a to-be-determined San Diego Chargers game in November and December.
The top four scorers at the Team Championships in each age division will advance to the National Finals, held at an NFL Playoff game in January. Free travel to the competition will be provided for players and two parents or guardians.
The Punt, Pass and Kick Competition will be held on Multi-Purpose Field #4 at Central Park, located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road .
