Jeff Kolin, the first director of Santa Clarita’s Parks and Recreation Department, is returning to Southern California to assume his new position as City Manager for the City of Beverly Hills.
After organizing various parks, recreation and community service programs, including facilitating a transition of several parks from county to city management, Kolin moved up the ranks in Santa Clarita to Deputy City Manager. Responsible for the Public Works department, Kolin became involved in the city’s fight against a potential dump in Elsmere Canyon. The successful campaign, earned him the moniker “Elsmere Czar.”
He left Santa Clarita in May 1996 to become City Manager for the Pittsburg, a city in the mid-state area. In 2000, he was named City Manager for the City of Santa Rosa, where he has been for the last 9 years.
According to his biography on the Santa Rosa website, he is President of the City Managers’ Department of the League of California Cities, is a member of the Board of the California City Managers’ Foundation and an International City/County Managers’ Association Credentialed Manager. He is a board member of United Way and an active Rotarian.
