Pak, 48, of Stevenson Ranch, was accused of shooting his gun in the air near a group of children who repeatedly rang his doorbell was sentenced to probation, six months of Alcoholics Anonymous classes and five days of community service, officials said.

Pak also was ordered to not possess any firearms, according to a representative from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

On Oct. 12, 2013, Pak allegedly chased after a group of children who played a prank known as “ding-dong-ditch” at his home and Pak fired his gun into the air, the prosecutor said.

“They came back a second time and (Pak) followed them on foot,” says Steve Whitmore, former spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department

Pak apparently caught up to three of the teenagers.

When it looked like a few of the older ones were going to confront Pak, he identified himself as a sheriff’s deputy, pulled out his service revolver and fired a round into the air as a warning shot, Whitmore said.

He was arrested on May 16, after the crime was investigated by sheriff’s officials. He was then relieved of duty and suspended with pay while the investigation was being conducted.

Pak has since retired.

The case was investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
