It’s that time again, the beginning of a new year when people set goals and resolutions for themselves.

Most, if not all, of those resolutions were made in hopes of people achieving a better them, but many of them won’t be kept.

“It’s not necessarily the New Year that will bring you great fortune,” said Alex Urbina, Santa Clarita life coach. “But the deep burning desire within you, that says, yes I can, yes I will, yes I am.”

The new year brings an abundant amount of unlimited possibilities for you to create whatever it is you desire, according to Urbina.

“One of the reasons why most new year resolutions are never completed is because they may be lacking some essential ingredients,” said Urbina.

Commitment

According to Urbina, the first ingredient that may be missing in a declaration, or commitment.

Webster’s defines the word commit: “to say that someone will definitely do something.”

“In other words it means to do what you say; not try to do it, do my best to do it, hope to do it, want to do it or attempt to do it; but definitely do it,” said Urbina.

Commitment is the state of being in which one is obligated or emotionally impelled to be the cause of creating that which they desire, according to Urbina. Choosing to dig down deep and access this level of burning desire and passion, is within everyone of us, yet very few people have figured out how to access this part of themselves.

“Every mother of a newborn baby knows what commitment feels like, especially when she is awoken at 3 a.m. to her crying baby,” said Urbina.

Intention

The second ingredient Urbina says is needed is intention.

“Intention is a powerful and creative energy, a way of being and attitude that will eventually manifest the results that you intend,” said Urbina.

Intention is a stand that you take, to act as if it’s already happened, as though you already accomplished your goal, as if everything you desire has already been created, said Urbina. Or show up as though you already are the person you want to become.

“If you practice acting as if, more and more from moment to moment, even changing the words you use; eventually you won’t be acting anymore,” said Urbina. “You become the person that it takes to create the those results.”

Belief

According to Urbina, the third ingredient is believe in yourself.

“Believing that it’s possible and or that you deserve it, is half the battle,” said Urbina.

Our beliefs are the things that we decide what we want to think is true, and we base this information on our past and all the experiences we have had up until this point in our life, according to Urbina.

“Unconsciously we don’t realize how many limiting beliefs we possess about ourselves, the way the world works and possibilities,” said Urbina. “More importantly the ones that get in the way of us creating the life of our dreams.”

Most of our limiting beliefs are transparent; we can’t see them and we can’t see how we are impaired by them, according to Urbina.

“The more aware we become, the more we are able to clearly see them, and the more we are able to to transcend those beliefs,” said Urbina. “Being able to re-invent ourselves and the results we are committed to creating.”

Humility

The fourth ingredient is humility, said Urbina.

“Be willing to ask for help, to be guided, to be coached, to be mentored or taught; to learn that which you do not yet know,” said Urbina.

The biggest self sabotaging habit where you can easily get stuck, is in the EGO; “The Know It All” stage of your life, according to Urbina. This happens quite frequently to those whom have done pretty good for themselves thus far, creating great things; when they hit a plateau they get paralyzed.

“I hope everyone has a happy New Year,”  said Urbina. “May you be well and continue to love yourself more and more everyday.”
