Fourth Of July Fun In Santa Clarita

flagThere will be no shortage of events dedicated to Independence Day in Santa Clarita this Sunday. From firework shows to Fourth of July parades, SCV is sure to be overflowing with fun inviting events that you and your family can enjoy. If you are looking to take part in a patriotic atmosphere take a look at this list of local events and make note of any that spark your interest.

The Santa Clarita Runners Club is holding their 28th annual Independence Day Classic 5K Run. It begins at 8 a.m. at Newhall Park and runners will run their last 2 miles on the same route of the Fourth of July parade. Proceeds from the run will benefit the cross-country teams of the local public high schools. There is also a non-competitive walk and a “Kiddie K” for the children beginning at 7:45 a.m.

The cost to participate is $30 for the 5k and $10 for the “Kiddie K”. Those interested can click here to register.

They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and the SCV Rotary Club is making pancakes. Join this long-time service club for a balanced breakfast of flapjacks, sausage links, orange juice, and coffee at the parking lot on the corner of 5th and Main. Proceeds benefit Rotary service projects in the community.

Also on SCV’s Fourth of July agenda is the Fourth of July Parade, which will begin at 9 a.m. Sunday on Main Street in Old Town Newhall. This years theme is “Celebrating Americas Independence: Movie Town USA” to celebrate Santa Clarita’s long history of providing locations for Hollywood filmmakers. The SCV Fourth of July parade has been an Independence Day staple since 1932 and is a must see for families of the Santa Clarita Valley.

Bridgeport Marketplace is holding a Fourth of July picnic and carnival from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the corner of Newhall Ranch Road and McBean Parkway. The event will feature live music, delicious food, a dunk tank, a petting zoo, and classic carnival games that are fun for all ages. Also, 75 percent of its carnival booth profits go directly to local charities.

This exciting day of Fourth of July fun comes to a close with a fabulous fireworks show.

The Santa Clarita Valley Fireworks Show is a popular annual event that displays breathtaking fireworks. Sponsored by the City of Santa Clarita, the show begins at 9:15 pm and lasts approximately 30 minutes. The show is located at the Valencia Westfield Mall, admission is free and guests are advised to arrive early since the fireworks show will definitely attract many visitors.

Another great opportunity to see some amazing fireworks is at Castaic Lake at 9 p.m. Beginning at 10 a.m., Castaic Lake’s swim beach is open to the public and Castaic will be holding a July Fourth celebration until the fireworks show at 9 p.m. Admission is free, though vehicle entry is $11.

The Stevenson Ranch Fireworks Show is back after the cancellation of last years show due to dry conditions. The show will be held at 9:05 p.m. at Dr. Richard Rioux Memorial Park.
