Full Freeway Closure Scheduled For Bridge Maintenance

LOS ANGELES COUNTY- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)
will close various northbound and southbound lanes and overcrossings
(bridges over the freeway) of the Golden State Freeway (I-5), nightly,
Monday, May 2 through Sunday, May 8, weather permitting, to perform bridge
maintenance work. The closure schedule is as follows:

All lanes of the southbound Golden State Freeway (I-5), from Weldon Canyon
Road (approximately 3 miles south of Calgrove Boulevard) to Balboa
Boulevard will be closed nightly, Friday, May 6, from 11:59 p.m. until 6
a.m., and Saturday, May 7, from 11 p.m. until 7 a.m., weather permitting,
to perform bridge maintenance work.

Northbound I-5: Nightly, May 2 through May 8, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
·     Olive Avenue/Verdugo Avenue off-ramp.(Burbank)
·     Northbound I-5 connector to westbound Simi Valley Freeway (SR-118).
(Pacoima)

Southbound I-5: Nightly, May 2 through May 8, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
·     Up to two lanes from Sierra Highway to Balboa Boulevard. (Sylmar)

Southbound SR-14: Nightly, May 2 through May 8, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
·     Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14) connector to southbound I-5. (Newhall
Pass)

Bridge maintenance will lead to longer lasting structures. Truesdell
Construction is the contractor. The project is scheduled for completion in
spring 2005.
