Full Freeway Closures Scheduled for Bridge Maintenance

LOS ANGELES COUNTY- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans)
will close all lanes of the southbound Golden State Freeway (I-5), from
Weldon Canyon Road to Balboa Boulevard, nightly, Friday, April 15, 11:59
p.m. until 6 a.m., and Saturday, April 16, 11 p.m. until 7 a.m., weather
permitting, to perform bridge maintenance work.
Various northbound and southbound lanes and overcrossings (bridges over the
freeway) of the Golden State Freeway (I-5) will also be closed
intermittently to perform bridge maintenance work, nightly, Wednesday,
April 13 through Sunday, April 17, weather permitting. The closure schedule
is as follows:

Northbound I-5: Nightly, April 13 through April 17, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
·     Olive Avenue/Verdugo Avenue off-ramp.(Burbank)
·     Northbound I-5 connector to westbound Simi Valley Freeway (SR-118).
(Pacoima)

Southbound I-5: Nightly, April 13 through 17, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.
·     Up to two lanes from Sierra Highway to Balboa Boulevard. (Sylmar)

Southbound SR-14: Nightly, April 13 through April 17, from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
·     Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14) connector to southbound I-5. (Newhall
Pass)

Bridge maintenance will lead to longer lasting structures. Truesdell
Construction is the contractor. The project is scheduled for completion in
spring 2005.
