Fundraiser In Memory Of ROTC Cadet

jonn_flathJonn Scott Flath, an 18-year-old AF-ROTC cadet, suddenly collapsed and died of unknown causes while training with his unit on September 23, 2011.  On January 5, in honor of what would have been his 19th birthday, Jersey Mikes Subs in Santa Clarita will hold a fundraiser for the Jonn Scott Flath Memorial Scholarship.

Owners Steve and Laura Youlios are donating 15% of all proceeds earned on January 5 from their three stores to the scholarship fund.  The funds will be awarded to students for education.

Jonn was a 2011 West Ranch High School Top Honor graduate, West Ranch TV morning host, Varsity Volleyball Captain, and College of the Canyon student.

Jonn died while on a three mile run with his unit.  Mark Flath, Jonn’s father, wrote on his blog created in honor of Jonn that Jonn had completed similar runs many times before and was in excellent physical condition.

“Jonn touched the lives of everyone who knew him, and his love and zest for life extended beyond his friends to those who only heard about him,” wrote Mark on his blog.
