Funds, Fundraisers Set Up For Garnica Family

To help the Garnica family deal with the mounting expenses of a funeral for Matilde Garnica Juarez, killed in a traffic accident while watching the fireworks show at the mall Sunday night, and hospital costs for her children, also injured in the accident, several opportunities exist for the community to make contributions.

Donations may be made at Wells Fargo Bank, 24180 Lyons Avenue, Newhall. The account number is 8583277168, or by noting “Matilde Garnica Juarez” fund on your check.

A fund to help the Garnica family is being established by AYSO Region 678, where the family was involved. Checks can be sent to the AYSO (with a notation on the check designating the money for the Garnica family) at P.O. Box 220307, Newhall, CA 91322-0307.

The Puzzle Zoo in the Westfield Valencia Town Center will donate 10 percent of gross sales on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (July 9, 10, 11) to the Garnica family. A donation bucket will be available as well.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, where the Garnica family worshipped, will hold a food sale from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 11 at the parish hall. All proceeds from food sales will go to the family.

KHTS AM1220 will update this information as additional details, including funeral arrangements, become available.
