Die-hard fans, local residents fill out audience for Major League Soccer match.
Beautiful weather was a fine backdrop for Santa Clarita’s first Major League Soccer game. The Columbus Crew took on the Los Angeles Galaxy in a pre season game, where proceeds went to the Michael Hoefflin Foundation.
Some big time soccer fans showed up hours early, and once they were let into the stands, they began their rituals of singing and chanting for their favorite players.
The Los Angeles Galaxy have been longtime supporters of the Michael Hoefflin Foundation, but both teams used the opportunity to play their best and prepare for the season.
“They just love to get out there and play,” said Ziggy Schmid, coach of the Columbus Crew.
Schmid also has the distinction of previously coaching the Los Angeles Galaxy, as well as having a tremendously successful coaching career at UCLA.
The morale was high for everyone before the game; from the fans to the players to the beneficiaries.
