A gun stolen in a vehicle burglary in Santa Clarita was found in the wrong place Thursday night – the bedroom of a parolee, subject to periodic, unannounced searches.
Jaime Gutierrez, 20, admitted to officers conducting a parole check that there was a loaded gun in the room when they stopped by his Via Estrella home in Newhall around 11 p.m.
Officers found a loaded blue steel, semi-automatic 9mm pistol, which turned out to be stolen and was traced back to a November burglary.
Gutierrez, who is a known gang member, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a stolen firearm. He will likely also be charged with violating his probation when he goes to court on Monday.
