An altercation Friday night led to the stabbing of a young man on Wellhaven Street in the North Oaks neighborhood of Canyon Country.
Lt. Mark Hershey said that the initial call that came in to the Sheriff’s station around 11 p.m. was for a fight, but was quickly upgraded to an assault with a deadly weapon call. When deputies arrived, they found the victim had been stabbed with what was described as a knife with a four-inch blade. The victim had been stabbed in the chest area, but his injuries were not life-threatening.
Hershey said that the stabbing was most likely gang-related. The suspect fled the area before deputies arrived and has not been located. Investigators from the station’s gang detail returned to the area Saturday morning.
