Local gas prices have dropped since Halloween. But they’re still scarily higher than they were a year ago — more than 73 cents per gallon higher than last November’s average price…
A gallon of regular unleaded gasoline sold for an average of $2.34 in the Santa Clarita Valley on Thursday. While the average is lower than the mid-October price of $2.486, it considerably tops the November 2003 average of $1.611, according to a survey conducted for The Signal by Randy Cressall, owner of the Valencia Chevron AutoSpa.
While the average price of regular unleaded gasoline should continue to drop, Cressall said, he does not believe prices will go below $2 a gallon.
“I think all the oil producers have learned that they have gotten the consumer accustomed to the higher prices. I don’t see it going below $2,” Cressall said.
“I think we are going to see a slow downward trend from the spike we have had, unless there is a dramatic change in the market place,” he said…
