Gin Blossoms To Headline Santa Clarita “Rock the Bike”

Saturday night street party anchors full weekend of events surrounding the Amgen Tour of California.

When the racing stops, the party starts at the “Rock the Bike” expo and music festival.  On Saturday February 23rd, the City of Santa Clarita along with Westfield Valencia Town Center and H3 Publications, producers of Road Magazine and decline Magazine, will present Rock the Bike, a Saturday night cycling industry expo and music festival featuring top performing artists the Gin Blossoms.

Rock the Bike will immediately follow the Stage 6 finish of the Amgen Tour of California and will be located outside the north side of Westfield Valencia Town Center near the finish line activities. The official hours of the Rock the Bike festival is from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Rock the Bike is just one in a series of events surrounding the prestigious cycling race. All events are free and open to the public.

The Gin Blossoms took the music world by storm in the 1990’s with smash hits “Hey Jealousy” and “Allison Road” and have since been a top drawing stage act. The Gin Blossoms will headline a full night of live music and entertainment.

Along with top musical entertainment, over thirty industry leading cycling manufacturers will be showcasing the latest innovations in road and mountain cycling for the public. Manufacturers including Specialized, Trek, Giant Bicycles, Shimano and Kenda will be exhibiting bicycles and merchandise throughout the evening.

While Rock the Bike carries the fun into the night, a full-day of activities are planned around the Saturday Stage 6 finish of the Amgen Tour of California leading up to riders entering Santa Clarita for a three lap circuit en route from Santa Barbara. The Health Net Lifestyle Festival, beginning at noon, will feature exhibitors, trick riders and music. In addition there will be a “Kids Zone” sponsored by Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, and a “Family Ride” sponsored by Health Net.

The City of Santa Clarita and H3 Publications are presenting the Road to the Cure raffle, benefiting both the Michael Hoefflin Foundation and Amgen’s Breakaway from Cancer initiative. Prizes range from premium sporting equipment, like bicycles from Cannondale, to top name sports memorabilia. Tickets will be on sale during the Rock the Bike event and the drawing will be held at the Sunday Start of the Amgen Tour of California.
