Accident traps girl between tree and wall, jaws of life used in rescue.
A 16-year old girl is in critical condition this morning after a serious accident Monday night on Wiley Canyon Road.
The girl was driving a 2005 Honda CRV westbound on Wiley with her 17-year old boyfriend driving a 1997 Volvo station wagon alongside her. For an unknown reason, the boyfriend’s car drifted toward the center median and he over-corrected, hitting the left side of the girl’s car and sending it toward the curb.
The car jumped the curb and hit a tree, trapping the girl inside the vehicle. Firefighters used the jaws of life to get her out of the car and she was transported to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Traffic investigators said that speed was not a factor in the crash, but said inexperience may have played a part in the collision.
