The staff of the Adult Secondary Education, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Parent Education programs at Golden Oak Adult School are preparing for this year’s activities. Counselors, clerical, and academic staff recently met to plan for Golden Oak’s 63rd year of providing educational opportunities to the community of Santa Clarita and beyond.
Topics at the meeting included opening the new school year, student learning, and efforts to deal with the current state budget situation.
Golden Oak is no longer mailing the traditional Schedule of Classes Brochure in response to budget limitations. Residents can go online to download the brochure or pick up a hard copy at several locations around Santa Clarita.

Golden Oak is working to add new classes including Basic Masonry, Personal Care Assistant, Basic Custodial Maintenance, and Principals of Horticulture. These and other career preparation classes would provide the student with a Certificate at their successful completion.
The Adult Secondary Education program includes both adult diploma candidates and concurrent high school seniors seeking to make up credits toward graduation for this coming June. Golden Oak offers test preparation classes for the General Educational Development (GED) Exam and the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) for those seeking adult diplomas.
ESL classes help adult students improve their English skills for career enhancement and personal growth.
