The Golden Oak Adult School jazz band will perform a concert at West Ranch High School’s Performing Arts Theater on Saturday, Dec. 10 starting at 3 p.m.
The group is made up of local professional-level adult musicians enrolled in the Hart District school’s program.
Bob Babko, recently retired and former band director at Valencia High and West Ranch High, came up with the idea of setting up a Golden Oak Adult School-sponsored jazz band. Members of the band are recruited and accepted by Babko.
“G O Jazz is a 17-18 piece ensemble that has been practicing feverishly since October,” said Ron Rudzinski, principal of Golden Oak Adult School. “They sound great and look forward to performing a broad selection of popular tunes at this concert.”

G O Jazz hopes to keep the group performing throughout the year. Babko is also looking to open a second-level class that would allow students to learn and play with other musicians in a group. Adults who are interested may call (661) 259-0033 extension 444.
Proceeds from Saturday’s concert will help G O Jazz continue to provide a quality entertainment option for our community. The group plans to perform at least three concerts each year.
Tickets are available for the general public for $10 ($5 for students and seniors 60 and older) by calling (661) 259-0033 extension 444, or at the door.
Musicians interested in learning more about auditioning for the band may call the same number.
