Art project modified to streamline design.
The view is going to get a lot nicer on Soledad Canyon Road where the Golden Valley Bridge spans overhead. Huge outdoor murals will soon be placed under the bridge that reflect the arts in Santa Clarita.
The murals were the result of a city-wide call for submissions to adorn the underpass of the bridge in multiple cut outs. The Special Children’s Art Foundation, a local non-profit, won over the hearts at City Hall with their proposal for three of the sections.
The Foundation begins with a mural design. Then the mural is broken up into pieces and transported to a local school, where special needs children paint them with the help of other students. After completion, the mural is installed at the location.
In this case, the Foundation will utilize a Venetian tile design for the mural, which will consist of numerous small pieces arranged on the wall to form a larger image. The painting will be done by Santa Clarita students starting as early as March. Once complete the mural will be arranged under the Golden Valley Bridge, where it will brighten up the side of Soledad Canyon Road.
The initial design was recently refined by the Foundation, and the latest mock up is posted below.
