Allegations of inappropriate behavior filed against female high school counselor.
Updated 1:08 p.m. Tuesday April 29
Investigators from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Special Victims Bureau are investigating a complaint against a female counselor at Golden Valley High School who allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old male student.
Bureau Captain Joe Gutierrez said that the conduct involved "telecommunications" that were deemed "inappropriate" but not necessarily criminal. No arrests are imminent in the case. Asked if e-mails or text messages were involved, Gutierrez said they were part of the telecommunications definition.
He added that the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station had been notified of the conduct on April 15 and turned over the case to their division because it was of a sexual nature involving a minor.
Hart District spokeswoman Pat Willett said that the district is also conducting its own investigation and has placed the employee in question on administrative leave pending results of the investigation.
Willett also provided a statement from the administration:
“The Hart District takes such allegations very seriously and will vigorously pursue its investigation in order to protect the safety of students in our schools, while protecting the privacy of any students or employees who may be involved.”
