High School junior and her parents will be whisked away to Washington D. C. in June for ceremonies celebrating the 2009 gallery artists. Southwest Airlines donates three tickets to each winner so they and their parents can attend the ceremonies.

The artwork will hang in the Cannon Tunnel, a passageway between the legislators’ offices and the Capitol building. One entry from every Congressional district is included in the gallery display and entries are on display from June to May.

The theme of the contest was “Patriotic” and Shin was in good company; in fact, several judges said they had a hard time picking just one winner.

Judges included Fast Frame owners Randy Burzunski and Rose-Marie Longan, Patricia McKeon, wife of Congressman Buck McKeon and one of the driving forces behind bringing the contest back in our community; caseworker Margie Ann Clark from McKeon’s office; Laurie Morgan, President of the SCV Artists Association; Carl Goldman, co-owner of KHTS AM1220, who assisted McKeon with the contest and William S. Hart Governing Board Member Paul Strickland.

All entries are on display at Fast Frame (in the Kohl’s center at McBean Parkway and Valencia Boulevard) where they will remain through the month of May. Some entries may be moved to display space in Santa Clarita City Hall!
