Senate and Assembly Republican leaders commended Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for issuing an executive order calling for accountability over money raised by the state through the sale of bonds.
“California has a spotted history when it comes to the efficient use of bond revenues,” Senate Republican Leader Dick Ackerman, of Tustin, said.
Assembly Republican Leader Mike Villines, of Clovis, stated, “As we look forward, Republicans will demand that the infrastructure bonds are spent as the people intended, not on pork projects in lawmakers’ districts.”
California voters approved an infrastructure bond package last November.
