Congregation Beth Shalom will host an evening with Doug Cotler.
[view:node_ad=5]Congregation Beth Shalom of the Santa Clarita Valley is getting ready to present Grammy Award-winning contemporary Jewish singer, songwriter and composer Doug Cotler in the first of its Distinguished Performance Series concerts on Sunday, November 9, 2008, at 3 p.m.Doug Cotler has recorded six original Jewish music albums, with his 1984 Grammy being awarded for writing “Manhunt,” a song featured in the album and movie, Flashdance. He also has two songbooks containing songs from four of his recordings.
With a warm and expressive voice, Doug’s sensitive and penetrating interpretations of liturgy, as well as insightful and humorous songs about Jewish events and heroes have placed him in the forefront of contemporary Jewish music.
This Distinguished Performance Series “sing-a-long” – a fun fundraiser which benefits the CBS Early Childhood Education Center, Religious School and synagogue – offers an exciting opportunity to foster a love of Jewish music in our children. Canter Beth Wasserman Rosenfeld and the teachers at CBS have been practicing Cotler’s songs in their classes in preparation for joining Doug on stage during his Santa Clarita performance.
