The breakfast bar was open on the southbound I-5 early Wednesday morning when a truck carrying hundreds of grapefruits flipped onto its side and dumped its load across several lanes of traffic.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer John Lutz, the accident was reported at 1:53 a.m. on the southbound I-5 just north of Parker Road.
The spilled grapefruits partially blocked two lanes of the southbound traffic and one lane of the northbound traffic, causing them to close down three lanes for several hours.

The truck driver was taken to the hospital for his injuries, but there was no further word on his condition.
Lutz said that one lane in each direction of the freeway at the location of the spill remains closed for guardrail repair.
