“Henry Mayo has benefited greatly as a result of Linda’s involvement with the Henry Mayo Foundation Board and the promotion of philanthropic goals through your magazines,” said Congressman McKeon as he prepared to present the award to Hafizi. “When you need a hospital, you want it to be there for you. We appreciate everything you do to help Henry Mayo’s growth. Your ability to provide that information to our community is invaluable and we thank you.”
The Healthcare Leadership Award was created by Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in 2006 to honor individuals or companies who exemplify the hospital’s values and who support the mission to improve the health of our community through compassion and excellence in healthcare services.
In volunteering time and resources, Linda Hafizi has served on the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation Board of Directors for seven years. This extraordinary commitment is a testament to her ongoing generosity, talent, and dedication to the importance of healthcare philanthropy.
Her philanthropic giving has been consistent through the years and especially generous during the Campaign for the Next Generation of Care in support of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s new ER. The promotion of the Hospital and Foundation within her publications is invaluable as the Hospital continues its efforts to educate our community about Henry Mayo’s new expansion of healthcare services and programs.
“This award was named after Buck McKeon because of his own leadership in healthcare and the impact that leadership has had on our community. I am so pleased to be included in this group,” said Hafizi. “When I became involved with the hospital, I never realized it would become so personal as a result of my family’s healthcare needs. This is an excellent facility and it’s so reassuring to have such quality care available in our community.”
Hafizi added, “The family of doctors, staff, administration, donors, and volunteers make this a truly amazing hospital for our community.”
In addition to Congressman McKeon, past recipients include Roberta Veloz in 2007, Gary Cusumano in 2008, and Vinod Assomull, MD in 2009.
