Jann Robbins, the widow of best-selling author Harold
Robbins, just published “Harold and Me” a memoir that reveals the more heartfelt
side of her late husband, who had quite the reputation as a playboy and bon
vivant.

“It’s a story about my life with Harold,” she said. “I
wanted people to understand Harold Robbins the best-selling author. There was a
lot published about him, he was known as a playboy and wild man, which he was,
but there was something behind that. There was the genius of his writing and
generosity of his heart, but people don’ttalk about that much. My life with him
was an adventure I wanted to share with everyone.”

Robbins moved to Valencia
when a production company was scouting for locations for a miniseries based on
one of Robbins’s books. She said she fell in love with the community and its
closeness to other Southern California locations.

The book officially premiered Tuesday, but Robbins is
holding several local events to celebrate. She will be a guest on Paul
Strickland’s “Thursday Matinee” show at noon
today on KHTS AM-1220 and will be signing books tonight at 7 p.m. at Barnes and Noble Booksellers in Valencia.

She’s really excited about a kickoff party for the book
Saturday, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Off-Broadway Bistro in Valencia.

“It’s going to be a fun party, we’ll have music and
Christmas carols and book signings. There will be lots of people there and
Harold Robbins is giving everyone who comes to the party a complimentary glass
of champagne.”

Robbins is a high-energy woman dedicated to keeping her late
husband’s legend alive. Her next project is developing a 60th anniversary
set of his novels, which will be republished as a special series.

“His career spanned six decades, so we’re putting out a book
a decade,” she explained. “Never Love A Stranger” will represent the ’40s, “79
Park Avenue” the 50s, “The Adventurers” the ’60s, “The Lonely Lady,” the ’70s, “Goodbye
Jeanette” from the ’80s and “The Pirhanas” from the ’90s.”

Robbins is adding a new element to the series, which will
feature the debut of a new “cover girl.”

“Because Harold’s female characters were always strong and went
through hard times, some would criticize them and call them bimbos,” she
explained. “He loved and adored women and saw them as the strongest characters
in his life.

“We have created a Harold Robbins woman to represent him,”
she continued. “We looked quite some time to find someone and found a woman in
her 40s, who epitomizes the strong women in his work.”

The woman will make her debut with the anniversary series
and her likeness will grace the cover of each reissued book. Robbins said that
the woman is a model who has been seen in commercials and print ads, but should
not be recognizable from other media.

“She’s how people will rediscover Harold Robbins in
different ways,” she said.
