Hart And Valencia Compete To Collect Most Donations For Food Pantry

scv-food-pantry-logoIt’s a face-off in the food wars between the Hart Indians and Valencia Vikings that will culminate in a winner being announced Wednesday night – just two days before the reigning Foothill League champs Valencia take on their rivals from Hart High School for a gridiron clash.

The competition begins tonight as fans of both squads start to amass their “weapons” – cans and boxes of nonperishable food destined for the SCV Food Pantry. In a show of sportsmanship; students, coaches, staff, parents and alumni will be collecting food in a spirited competition to see who can gather the most to help their neighbors.

The winner – whichever school collects the most – will be announced a pep rally at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Power Ford on Creekside Drive that will feature the sports teams, bands, drumline and cheer squads from both schools. The public is invited to attend, enjoy the performances and donate food to their favorite team.

Whichever school emerges triumphant will get bragging rights and have the opportunity to be the Fox Sports West Prep Zone featured school, which includes on-air features and images in the FOXSportsWest.com photo gallery.

The game, which will be played in Cougar Stadium at College of the Canyons Friday at 7:30 p.m., will be broadcast live on KHTS AM1220 as well as televised on Fox Sports West.
