Hart District’s Career Visions Bond With Businesses

hartdistlogoREDThe Hart School District’s Career Visions program has launched an intensive recruitment and community outreach campaign targeting local employers, special education students, and their families, to assist special education students with a desire to work.

The launch of this campaign supports a renewed statewide interest to bring proven workforce preparation fundamentals into the classroom and offers the added incentive of a paid work training experience intent on embracing a direct hire and long term employment philosophy.

“In this time of economic challenge, state and local government continues to acknowledge the extreme importance of having workforce development training courses such as Career Visions Workforce Preparation and Reaching Hire, available to high school students with special needs.  Ultimately, the great thing about this exciting social service opportunity is that it helps many of our student participants to become productive, gainfully employed members of our local community, and I’m proud to be a part of that,” Kevin Sarkissian, program supervisor, said.

“We are focusing on several key areas of growth this year: Community outreach; family education; quality workforce preparation; and local job development leading to long term employment for any special education student with a desire to work,” Sarkissian explained.  For the past several months, the Career Visions team has been busy forging partnerships with local employers to develop quality, private sector work training opportunities throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.  “I couldn’t be happier with the results.”

Career Visions is seeking additional local companies that would like to provide a work training opportunity to special education high school students. For more information about participating in the Hart School District Career Visions program visit www.cvworks.org or contact 661-259-0033 X 525.
