Hart Museum Makeover Complete, Set To Re-open

Following needed improvements to the facilities, the William S. Hart Museum will re-open on December 22.

Through a partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the historic mansion received an upgraded roof and other useful renovations. This will better protect the artifacts inside the silent film star’s former residence, which was built in the 1920s.

Staff is asking everyone to experience the remodeled museum, and view its Western artwork, Native American artifacts, film props and memorabilia.

In celebration of the holiday season, the museum will be decorated to fit the occasion.

Guests can also picnic on the Park grounds, feed animals in the Animal Barnyard and see the herd of American Bison.

William S. Hart Park and Museum is located at 24151 Newhall Avenue in Newhall, and is open for the winter. As of December 22, 2010, the Museum will be open for guided tours Wednesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 pm and Saturday to Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Admission is free.
