Hart district students will have a four-day weekend starting Friday, and teachers who originally anticipated a staff development day will have a free day as well, thanks to a furlough day negotiated with the teachers and union.
The furlough day is one of a handful of staff-free days scheduled this year to save the district more than $1 million in salaries during this fiscally challenging time.
Approximately 1,800 administrators, teachers and classified staff members are expected to be affected by the furlough.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 16.
