Update: 3:15 p.m.
All northbound lanes of the I-5 are now open. The lanes had been closed Thursday afternoon just south of Smokey Bear Road after a hazardous material spill. Most of the spill was on the offramp at Smokey Bear.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department reports that 300 gallons of potassium hydroxide spilled from tanks dislodged from a truck traveling along the freeway.
The chemical is in liquid form and hazmat crews led the cleanup operations.
