A Good Night’s Sleep

DrGriffin_Headshot2Written By Dr. Carolyn A. Griffin, D.C.

One common misconception is that back pain occurs because of something you do. Sometimes it occurs because of something you don’t do.

A healthy fit body means caring for your back 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Once you begin using products that pamper your spine and provide the proper posture support, you’ll begin to realize how much more productive and relaxing your daily activities can be.

We spend about a third of our lives sleeping and improper sleeping positions as well as an unsupportive bed can cause you to wake up sore and achy.  So what do you do?

First of all, avoid sleeping on your stomach. This can cause not only back pain, but neck pain as well. Make sure to either sleep on your side with a pillow between your knees or on your back with a pillow under your knees.

This takes the stress off your back and keeps your body more aligned and in balance. A cervical (neck) pillow can help maintain the vital curve that should be in your neck. By doing all of this, the results are less tossing and turning, less pain, and ultimately, a better night’s rest.
