Before you make any final decisions on your outfit for this year’s 4th of July party, stop by Santa Clarita’s Cobblestone Cottage to add the perfect accessory – Brighton’s newest Brighton Loves America bracelet. Made with red, white, and blue Swarovski crystals, this patriotic piece of jewelry is actually selling with a charitable intent. Brighton is partnering with specialty retailers, including Cobblestone Cottage, to support the arts programs in their local communities. The bracelet costs $48, half of which will go to the WiSH (William S. Hart) Education Foundation, which was launched by the Hart School District as an education foundation that seeks to “fund programs and initiatives that go beyond what tax dollars provide and help elevate and prepare our students for life.” The funds will specifically benefit the performing arts programs in Santa Clarita high schools.
Patriotism, 4th of July… Why the arts? Cobblestone Cottage owner Kathy Allie says that when Brighton was partnering with Cobblestone Cottage, Brighton owner Jerry Kohl was very specific in his desire to support the arts through the Brighton Loves America bracelet. He knows the importance of youth arts programs because aside from being a successful businessman, he is also a musician. Allie, along with her daughter and Cobblestone Cottage Store Manager, Jamee, then decided that they wanted to keep the donations within their home of the Santa Clarita Valley.
With only 300 in stock, Cobblestone Cottage hopes to sell all bracelets by July 31 in order to donate a total of $7,200 to the WiSH Education Foundation, who will then distribute the donations to their respective high schools. This will ultimately have a positive impact on about 23,000 students in the Santa Clarita Valley who have been affected by the recent budget cuts on high school arts programs.
The versatility of the Brighton Loves America bracelet allows it to show support for several different causes, including arts programs, charitable foundations, and of course, patriotism. When asked about her favorite features of the bracelet, Allie says, “My favorite part is that we as an independent store can choose our own local foundation to support with our donation. Of course, the design is beautiful – lots of red, white & blue Swarovski crystals. It’s the perfect way to show your patriotism this election year. You can also wear it with pride to support the USA as we compete in the Olympics.” As Kathy said, you will be able to choose the high school you want the profits to go to as well as the specific performing arts department, including band, dance, choir, or theatre.
So whether you love Brighton, Santa Clarita’s performing arts programs, or our beautiful country, pick up your new favorite bracelet at Cobblestone Cottage and the fireworks won’t be the only thing shining brightly on the 4th of July!
