With a number of events for caregivers of seniors coming up in Santa Clarita, Comfort Keepers Home Care President Myles McNamara is reminding the community to mark their calendars.

McNamara is on the steering committee of a series of seminar workshops being offered by the Santa Clarita Senior Center in partnership with College of the Canyons, with the next event set for August 26.

Slated to take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Senior Center, the next seminar is centered around the topic “Crisis Management Planning,” which will teach attendees how to know what to do when a crisis happens and what resources are available.

Anne Front, the director of palliative care at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, is expected to be the keynote speaker at the event, according to McNamara.

“It’s really … talking about being proactive and not reactive,” he said. “It’s going to be a great presentation.”

The series continues on November 18 with a seminar on elder law, which will feature McNamara’s wife, Jane, as the keynote speaker.

“It’s about legal options of long-term care decisions, and the legal ramifications and things like that,” McNamara explained.

McNamara also encouraged caregivers to attend the Annual Caregiver Resource Day set for September 23 at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

“It’s all focused on that family caregiver, the professional caregiver,” he said, “and taking care of the people that take care of us.”
