When I look in fashion magazines and examine the latest trends, I often find myself loathing my current wardrobe. This is because as a woman, I have a natural impulse to want the latest fashions and trends. Unfortunately, it can be hard to emulate the celebs and models without losing our own unique sense of fashion.
With all the mass made clothing presenting themselves to us at the mall, it is hard to not fall into the mass-made clothing trap. Pretty soon we walk down the street in a dress we bought at the mall, and we see countless others wearing the same exact dress.
But how can this be prevented? How can I buy clothes that help me to stand out from the rest?
First, know that it is ok to buy those types of mass-made fashions, just learn to make it your own. This can easily be done by dressing up that plain dress or blouse with family heirloom accessories or pretty printed vintage scarves (which happen to be huge this season). Go for unique colors and prints that, and know that to go against the current fashion isn’t always a fashion faux pas.
But if you want to avoid buying pieces that you think you might see 20 other people wear, try to find boutiques or shops that sell one-of-a-kind clothing items.
Labels SCV is a fashion boutique located here in Santa Clarita that capitalizes on the idea that unique is better. Labels doesn’t buy fashion in bulk which means when you buy that off-the-shoulder graphic tee, you can be sure you are the only one in our valley that has that high-quality piece. Also, Labels features a “re-newed” section in their store, pre-owned clothing that has been dry-cleaned and presented like new.
