Unlike other forms of sedation, nitrous oxide, or “laughing gas,” does not require patients to arrive early to their appointments and wears off only minutes after treatment, according to Dermacure officials.DermaCure First Laser Skincare Center In State To Offer Convenient New Sedation

“At DermaCure, we have utilized numbing cream, oral sedatives and narcotic pain killers– this is the industry standard,” said Dr. Craig Ingber, DermaCure’s owner and board certified facial plastic surgeon. “Though effective, these methods have problems.”

“The patient needs to come in one full hour before their treatment to apply the cream or let the pills take effect. They also must have a friend drive them home. Most people lose the entire day of the treatment… At DermaCure, we have come to believe there is a better way.”

To address these common issues, DermaCure officials introduced nitrous oxide to medical aesthetics for the first time in the state of California.

Nitrous oxide is a safe and effective form of light sedation that is commonly used in dental offices on both adults and children, Ingber said.

“Nitrous does not require arriving early to your appointment, and wears off minutes after your treatment,” he said. “Unlike oral sedation, patients can resume their normal activities immediately. The advantages are obvious.”

The last 10 years have brought about a shift in the way people are “maintaining their youthful appearance,” according to Ingber, and facelifts, CO2 lasers and harsh phenol peels are no longer the forefront of treatment.

“The reasons are obvious: expense, extreme down time, pain and complications such as infection and nerve damage,” he said. “The last decade has seen advancement in laser, intense pulsed light and ultrasound therapies. These newer treatments can improve skin texture, reduce pores and brown spots, diminish wrinkles and even destroy precancerous skin lesions.”

Lasers can be used to remove unwanted hair and spider veins, while sagging skin and “unsightly” fat deposits can be effectively treated without surgery or down time.

For a brief introductory period, DermaCure officials are offering nitrous oxide for free with applicable treatments.
