While advertising tricks can make certain cosmetic products or procedures stand out, medical professionals at the Santa Clarita laser skincare center DermaCure are advising residents to be mindful of who they choose as their injector.

“It’s true that there are certain assets one product may have over another, and of course we all love a bargain,” said Dr. Craig Ingber, DermaCure’s owner and board certified facial plastic surgeon. “But the fact remains; it’s not the paint, it’s the artist. It’s not the plane, it’s the pilot. It’s not the scalpel, it’s the surgeon, and it’s not the Restylane, Juvederm or Voluma filler, it’s the injector.”  Santa Clarita Laser Skincare Center DermaCure

While products like Juvederm and Voluma are reversible and offer the added advantage of no prior skin testing and a dramatic increase in the length of time of maintaining facial improvements, other fillers have been introduced that are not reversible.

These fillers are not hyaluronic acids, which occur naturally in skin, and instead contain foreign materials meant to plump wrinkles and creases by causing scar formation in the skin. The result can be lumpiness in the skin, according to DermaCure officials.

“The cosmetic result is in the hands of the injector, or artist,” DermaCure officials said. “It is his or her knowledge of facial anatomy– muscles, nerves and blood vessels –and the concepts of facial beauty, along with an inborn artistic eye that separate great results from the regrettable ones.”

Choosing products like Restylane, Juvederm and Voluma also places more control in the hands of the injector due to their instant results.

As the procedure progresses the injector can see his work develop, meaning that the final result will look within 95 to 100 percent of what the patient sees at the end of treatment, according to DermaCure officials.

“There can be no ‘overdone’ look that mysteriously develops later,” officials added.
