As the health insurance enrollment deadline quickly approaches, Santa Clarita Valley residents who may need help navigating California’s health benefits can attend an enrollment event at the Old Town Newhall Library Jan. 10, event officials announced Saturday.

To avoid tax penalties for not having health insurance, residents must enroll by Feb. 15, according to California Health Collaborative officials.
“The California Health Collaborative is a nonprofit 501c3 organization committed to enhancing the quality of life and health of the people of California,” officials said. “They will help you navigate California’s health benefits exchange to see if you qualify for financial assistance.”
The enrollment event is scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Old Town Newhall Library.

Items needed for enrollment include household income, proof of identity or citizenship and knowledge of birthdate and social security numbers for all household members, California Health Collaborative officials said.
