Natural Allergy Relief Avoids Side Effects From Allergy Medications

Allergy drugs gave me no relief. Here’s how I found allergy relief naturally, and it may work for you, too.

By Dr. Thomas Polucki

Those of us with an allergy or multiple allergies know that allergy relief is a real challenge this spring, even in the middle of California’s historic draught.

Our below-average winter rainfall has nonetheless spawned a pollen and mold bloom that is making more people than usual miserable with allergy symptoms this season.

If not treated early, allergy symptoms can progress into serious chronic sinus and respiratory infections.

Treating Seasonal Allergies with OTC Meds

Most of us try to treat our seasonal allergies with over-the-counter allergy medications first.allergy-polucki

Some OTC allergy medications work, some don’t. It’s hit or miss, especially if you don’t know exactly what you’re allergic to, and don’t know what OTC meds might be most specific to your allergy.

The bigger downside about most OTC allergy medications, though, is their potentially dangerous side effects.

And if you’re taking allergy medications but still not getting the allergy relief you need, you’re inadvertently loading your body up with toxins for no positive return.

If you are ready for a change for the better to get through your allergy season, I can share with you some simple, affordable, natural and effective options that might work for you – as they did for me – far better than allergy medications.

Tom Polucki, Childhood Allergy Sufferer

What’s my story? Well, I suffered with allergies as a child.

So like most people, I took allergy medications. For years.

Every spring and fall my allergies would progress into a respiratory infection and I would spend the next winters and summers taking loads of antibiotics.

I would also get headaches, almost daily, and occasionally migraines. So I took headache pain medication as well.

By the time I was in high school, my digestive tract was a mess from all the medications, so I had to take even more medication for my messed-up gut.

So at 16 — as I was testing for advanced placement and a scholarship to Johns Hopkins Medical School — I had an ulcer, colitis, bronchitis, migraines and the ever-mysterious allergies I had started out with. I was on five prescription medicines, had undergone three surgeries and was scheduled to have another.

A Natural Solution and Alternative to Allergy Medications

Then one morning I woke up and couldn’t turn my head. I’d had a few neck injuries in the past, all treated with muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatory medication.

But this time those meds gave me no relief.

My family cautiously took me to a chiropractor to treat my locked-up neck.

Long story short, within a few visits I could move my neck again. Within a few months of treatments my headaches and most of my allergies were gone.

And since I didn’t have to take daily medication for the first time in my life, my digestive tract started getting better, too.

That was the first spring I did not take allergy medications and the first fall that I did not get an upper respiratory infection.

It has been 30 years since I have taken an aspirin.

I opted not to go to conventional med school. Although I have great respect for my counterparts in conventional medicine, I realized I could not invest a lifetime of energy in a type of healthcare that did not work for me.

That’s why I went in the direction of chiropractic and functional medicine, where the idea is to restore function, not just treat symptoms. Restore functions, and the symptoms fade or disappear.

You can quickly find out what upper cervical chiropractic (no twist, no crack, measured) techniques, combined with cutting-edge functional medicine, can do for you. Just take my fast, easy and confidential survey, and you may qualify for a free consultation.

  1. Dr. Polucki is not my chiropractor, but I can assure everyone my quality of life returned after being treated by my chiropractor for a relatively short time. I consider my chiropractor nothing less than a miracle worker with magic hands. (BTW, don’t use that phrase — it’s copyrighted for my professional publications). Like Dr. Polucki’s parents, my first visits to my chiropractor were cautious. But it turns out even the cracking and twisting my chiropractor does to me improves my quality of life immensely.
