Prescription Pills: The Most Dangerous Gateway Drugs

With the demand for stronger pain relief, drug manufacturers ride a highly profitable razor’s edge between help and harm.

Gateway drugs are what addiction experts call substances that introduce people to harder drugs. Some consider alcohol and tobacco or vaping nicotine as primary gateway drugs, and there is a lot to discuss about that.

Public opinion has recently changed about marijuana, which is not physically addictive like tobacco and alcohol, with medical marijuana widely accepted and recreational marijuana legalized in some states.

The new gateway drugs – prescription pills – are much more dangerous.

More and more we are seeing families ruined by what is found in their medicine cabinets.

Recently, a Southern California medical doctor was sentenced for murder because her prescriptions were directly linked to the deaths of three people.

Doctors should be accountable for their actions and there is a much bigger problem here.

Our police are fighting a real war on drug cartels but children are exposed to instantly addictive drugs right from their parents’ medicine cabinets.Polucki - Gateway Drug

The increasing demand for bigger and better pain relief has led to the mass production of medications that in many cases are instantly addictive.

The two psychiatrists responsible for creating OxyContin are reportedly worth more than $14 billion, with a B. They were fined $600 million for criminal misbranding and trickery which led to a catastrophic increase in addicts, fatal overdoses, and blighted communities. But that fine did not slow production of OxyContin.

If prescription pain killers are in your house, there’s 50-50 chance your children will try them. The public opinion about prescription drug abuse is more acceptable than street-corner drugs like heroin, but it is a dangerously small step from OxyContin to heroin and heroin costs one third the street price of OxyContin.

While fines to the manufacturers and arresting negligent doctors are steps toward coming to terms with America’s drug addiction issues, the only real solution is to reduce the demand instead of the supply.

Half of America’s school children have abused drugs. With practically every other TV or radio commercial promising a better life through taking their drug, it’s hard for many of us to see the problem clearly.

We are conditioned to be drug users in this country. Americans represent 5 percent of the world population and we take 75 percent of the drugs made on the planet. If this was good for us, we would rank better than 37th when compared to the health of other countries’ populations.

There are drug-free answers to most health conditions as proven around the world. About 80 percent of the most common diseases are preventable by lifestyle.

We are here to support you in looking for drug-free options to your family’s health concerns.

Answer a few important questions about your biggest health challenge and you may qualify for a complimentary consultation that would cost more than $200 in comparable doctors’ offices.
