Gerard Cosmetics President/CEO: ‘Our Company Is About So Much More Than Just Lipstick’

Gerard Cosmetics President and CEO Jennifer Gerard is talking about how her vision for the company goes beyond just selling makeup products, with a commitment to serve the community and their customers as well.

“I have an amazing team of people,” Gerard said. “It’s just a group of people with an amazing attitude and realizing that our company is about so much more than just lipstick. We really focus on the community and things that we can do to better people’s lives, and they all feel a part of that mission and I love that.”  

For instance, Gerard Cosmetics was the title sponsor of the SCV Charity Chili Cook-Off in March, and is also expected to be a title sponsor of the Child and Family Center fundraiser Taste of the Town in May, according to Gerard.

“I think the thing I’m proudest of is really just the work that we’ve been able to do in the community, the amount of charities that we’re allowed to support, the events that we’re able to sponsor because of the success of the company,” she said. “I’ve lived in Santa Clarita since 1979, I’ve seen a lot of changes and it’s just really such a privilege to be able to give back.”

Anyone visiting the Gerard Cosmetics building in Santa Clarita might notice a number of faith-based wall hangings and decorations in Gerard’s office, which she noted helps serve as a reminder in her daily life, both personally and professionally.

“I think if you’re a person of faith, then that definitely shapes your character, and if it shapes your character, then it shapes every decision that you make,” she said. “I really just try to live my life and treat people by the principles that I want to be treated (by), and I guess that’s probably the biggest expression of faith.”

Gerard and her staff utilize this philosophy with their customers, always making an effort to answer social media communication and address any concerns quickly and in a friendly way.

“That’s another thing that I’m really proud of, is the way that we treat our customers, the speed with which they get a response,” Gerard said. “We try to always be friendly and prompt, and I think that is something (that) is just important to me, to treat people the way that I would want to be treated.”
