Henry Mayo Presents Heart Health Events In February

February is American Heart Month, in recognition of American Heart Month, Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, in partnership with the City of Santa Clarita, is presenting several free community events.

On Tuesday, February 11, Henry Mayo’s Cath Lab Clinical Coordinator, Tamar Avakian, will present a Heart Healthy Lecture from 6 – 7 p.m. at the Canyon Country Community Center, 18792 Flying Tiger Drive, Santa Clarita, CA 91387.

“Henry Mayo’s heart health education aims to promote wellness, prevent disease and build awareness for cardiovascular diseases and risk factors,” Avakian said. “Residents in the community can use these tools to improve their heart health.”

The community is invited to come learn about heart health and the hospital’s comprehensive cardiovascular services including prevention, detection, education, and expanded interventional services.

Henry Mayo will also be hosting its quarterly Heart Health Fair on Friday, February 14, 7:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Clarita Community Center, 22421 Market Street, Newhall, CA 91321. There will be free screenings and education available for attendees.

On Saturday, March 15, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Henry Mayo will be hosting a free community Heart Health Fair at the Canyon Country Community Center.

Both Henry Mayo Heart Health Fairs offer free screenings for blood pressure monitoring; height and weight analysis; body composition analysis; oxygen saturation and carbon monoxide measurement; cholesterol test (12-hour fasting recommended); glucose test (12-hour fasting recommended); healthy nutrition and diet tips; and stroke education.
