Knight toured several health facilities and met with local leaders in the medical field throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
On Thursday, Rep. Knight paid visits to the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, the Santa Clarita Radiation Therapy Center and a Northeast Valley Health Corporation facility. At each location he received a guided tour and met with employees and managers to discuss legislative issues that affect the operations of the facility.
“We applaud Congressman Knight’s commitment to serving our area’s residents and were honored to welcome him to our center to demonstrate the radiation therapy services we offer to cancer patients daily,” said Nancy Ellerbroek, MD, Radiation Oncologist.
“We deeply appreciate the support of Congressman Knight as we seek to expand access to meet the demand for healthcare,” said Kim Wyard, CEO of Northeast Valley Health Corporation. “Together we recognize the vital role community health centers represent in the healthcare delivery system. This year NEVHC will provide more than 50,000 medical, dental and behavioral health visits in the Santa Clarita Valley.”
Touring these local health facilities is part of an ongoing effort for Rep. Knight to gather information and receive input from around the district to help guide his work as a lawmaker in Washington. Rep. Knight mentioned that he is planning similar future events, such as a listening session for local physicians.
“Health care is an issue that is vital to our community,” said Rep. Knight. “I want to thank the employees of these facilities for giving me insight into the issues that they face, and I look forward to taking what I’ve learned today and applying it when I return to Washington, D.C.”
