The Providence Holy Cross Sub-Acute Care Center in Mission Hills, Providence St. Elizabeth Care Home in North Hollywood and the Providence Little Company of Mary Transitional Care Center in Torrance all earned the top ranking for criteria including quality care and staffing.

The Nursing Home Compare site offers consumers nationwide star-ratings for nursing care centers in their communities. Ratings are based on criteria that include quality and staffing levels.

“We care for hundreds of patients outside our hospitals who require 24-hour care, but do not suffer acute conditions,” said Sylvain Trepanier, chief clinical executive, Providence St. Joseph Health Southern California. “This nursing care is a very important part of the continuum of care for some of our most vulnerable, and we’re fortunate to have highly skilled, compassionate caregivers who have this very special calling.”

Each of the centers provides a slightly different type of care.

At Holy Cross, the team specializes in the care of ventilator- and tracheostomy-dependent patients who have suffered traumatic injuries or very serious illness.

Among the residents of St. Elizabeth are those recovering and rehabilitating from strokes and patients with debilitating chronic illnesses including dementia.

The transitional care center in Torrance is designed for shorter stays, helping patients rehabilitate from acute-care hospital stays before heading home.
