What is cellulite?
Researchers have found that in women, the uppermost layer of skin tissue consists of “standing fat cell chambers” that are separated by vertical walls of connective collagen tissue. At the top of these upright fat cells, arc-shaped domes are formed that are weak and more prone to fold and buckle under the pressures of excess weight, water retention or a sedentary lifestyle. This, in turn, causes smaller compartments of fat cells to then break up and cluster tightly just under the skin. This combination of standing fat-cell chambers and clusters of fat cells are the very elements that create the change of appearance in the skin’s surface that we know as cellulite.
What causes cellulite?
When fluid retention occurs in fatty tissue, the connective fibers of the upper layers of skin swell and become visibly rippled. This swelling sets up a chain reaction when toxic waste accumulates and further breaks down the collagen and elastin fibers. These fibers are responsible for keeping the skin smooth, but are too overloaded with waste, water and excess fat cells to do their work. Swollen fat cells and poor circulation decrease the level of elastin fibers creating a prime environment for cellulite.

How do herbal wraps help reduce the appearance of cellulite?
By wrapping the body in sheets soaked with specific herbs that have been heated, lymphatic and circulatory stimulation are triggered which assists the body in detoxifying and cleansing itself. The wrapping ensures effective penetration into the pores for this to occur. Some of the herbs used are: Ginger Root-Acts as a blood purifier much like garlic. It has excellent detoxification and diuretic capabilities.
Rosemary Leaf- Has strong antiseptic properties. Some reports indicate that it stimulates fibroblast growth with a possible increase in epidermal cell turnover.
Eucalyptus Leaf-Contains antiseptic, disinfectant and blood circulation properties.
